The Oxford City morris side was originally formed in the 1920s to dance at the traditional Oxford May Day celebrations. They now dance throughout the year.

Fool's jacket, 1959

Part of a fool’s costume, worn by Dennis Manners, and made by his wife. When Dennis retired as fool, it was passed to Alan Kimber-Nickelson, who wore it till 1979.
As well as dancing with Oxford City Morris, Dennis Manners was also involved with the Thame Morris Men and founded the Towersey Village Festival. He was awarded an MBE for services to folk music in 2001. He died in January 2009.
