Icknield Way

Icknield Way neckerchief

Neckerchief, 20th century

Red neckerchief, worn by Icknield Way morris dancers. Icknield Way practise at Wantage, in the south of the county.

The original side was formed by ex-pupils of Icknield Secondary who had been taught to dance by their teacher Mary Shunn. She had learned to dance from her friend, William Kimber, who played concertina for the Headington Quarry side.
