Oxfordshire Morris Dancing – A Living Tradition is an online exhibition about the history of morris dancing in Oxfordshire. The content of this site is based on a temporary exhibition held at the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments in Oxford from 3 March to 15 April, 2009.
The exhibition displayed contemporary and historical photographs, kit and instruments, most of which were loaned by local morris sides: Adderbury, Armaleggan, Cry Havoc, Eynsham, Icknield Way, Kirtlington, Mr Hemmings Traditional Abingdon Morris, Old Speckled Hen, Owlswick, Oxford City Morris Men and Phosphorous. Our thanks to all these sides for their support and thanks too to Andy Lamb, Manager of the Bate Collection, for hosting the exhibition.
We hope you enjoy this online version of the exhibition. Please do get in touch with questions, corrections or images and information you would like to see added to the site.
